Nice website. The reason I checked out the site is because a family friend , Ernest (Kayo) Murphy was in the battle. He was portrayed losely in the movie. He was a luetinent and was decorated for his service in the battle and many others. He was wounded twice and saved several of his men. He was a fine man and became Sheriff of Oscela county >He died in 2005 . I appreciate any information I can find. thanks 24721

Hi Scott, found your site via a Dutch WW2 site. I grew up in a Heveadorp, little village 7 kilometer from Arnhem (maybe known to you because the Germans used the ferry to cross the Rhine to Driel). Anyway, took a short look at your site and put it in my favorite section right away. I've always been interested in the Battle of Arnhem, growing up around the battlesite and, after reading everyting about the Allied side, started to get an interest in the German point a view about 10 years ago. This was after bying a book about the German point of view on the D-day landings. It's allways said the defender of Arnhem were a bunch of the old dad's army, but they landed in the lap of some crack troops. After reading about that also developed an interest in everything about the Waffen SS. To make a long story short: I will have a lot of interesting hours reading your site, I think it will brighten my horizons even more. Nice job, best site ever!! Greetz, Hans.
