A number of professional researchers are searching the former battlefields of Arnhem and are finding some very interesting items in their travels. These Battlefield relics help researchers tell a story of who was there and what might of happened. Finding former battlefield sites also help confirm what might be written in an account or a journal. These researchers make an important contribution to the history of this battle by putting the finds together and recreating the scenario to tell a story that occured in 1944.

Some of the discoveries these researchers find include equipment, ammunition, former fighting pits and even some of the fallen. Fallen soldiers are reported to the Dutch Authorities who try to identify the soldiers. Sometimes they can identify the soldier and families members are told of their fallen relative. The other soldiers that can not be identified are buried as unknown soldiers in their respective cemeteries.

This section will highlight some of the finds that have been discovered in and around Arnhem.

This is a buckle of an enlisted SS soldier who fought at the Battle of Arnhem. It was found on Benedendorpseweg, Oosterbeek which is about 200 metres of Baskeyfield's gun position. The buckle has been hit by a bullet or schrapnel which more than likely delivered a deadly blow to the wearer of this buckle.

The helmet, entrenching tool and other items were found in fighting pits not far from the Westerbouwing building. These items most likely belonged to the 'Wossowski Battalion' - Hermann Göring Training and Replacement Regiment.
