The enormously massive thorn in the side of the Germans during the Battle for Arnhem was the presence of British airborne troops at the northern end of the Arnhem Road bridge. These elite paratroopers, mostly from the 2nd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, managed to hold out against the Germans for a total four days stopping them from utilising the bridge to send reinforcements to the South. The British Airborne troops inflicted very high casualites on the Germans both in men and armoured vehicles.

This section of the site will go into further detail into the events that occurred at the Arnhem Bridge over the four days. Not only will it cover the German Order of Battle at the bridge but will provide an insight into the buildings the Germans had to take as well as some of the interesting events that took place which are not often published.

During the Battle for the Bridge, the German Luftwaffe attacked 2PARA positions. A very interesting story on what actually happened.
